Wake and Bake or Blaze and Daze? This is what I find myself asking when I begin the day. I found that there are different types of methods of staying high; you can either be organized, attentive to all details, or just completely daze away into bliss.
What kind of personality best suits you?
The morning bird that loves to wake before the sunrise or the night owl that is hypnotized by the dark?
This type of logic can also be applied to us stoners on whether we like to wake and bake as soon as we sip on that morning coffee, or wait for the day’s end to experience the satisfaction to Blaze and Daze the night away.
(And of course, there are some of us that don’t have any restrictions on what time of day it is! 420 all day, every day!)

Yin and Yang to Wake and Bake
All these traits of smoking cannabis in the morning can be very helpful to individuals.
However, just like life itself, there’s a yin and yang to everything and it’s very crucial for us folks to always keep trying to find our balance and zen.
I found that if I start the day with a wake and bake, it becomes harder to get high later on. As it’s usually the highest you’re going to get all day as you build your tolerance early on.
Wake and bake benefits include:
- Lifting your mood to start the day off right
- Easier to get out of bed
- Breakfast tastes better
- Stronger high than smoking later
Meanwhile, the potential cons are:
- Getting tired or sleepy early in the day
- Lower productivity and getting distracted
- Easier to build a daily habit and tolerance
- Makes smoking later in the day less enjoyable
Blaze and Daze into Comfort Instead
Some would argue that Blazing and Dazing at night is the ideal recreation/method because cannabis tends to burn out your body and can even cause emotional exhaustion. So, that’s a lot of extra lifting you gotta do during the daytime!
Just like coffee, nicotine, and anything else that stimulates our bodies can also crash it. Thus, we always hear of the afternoon slumps, as it’s called “the witching hour.”
This is when you fight yourself so hard to stay awake and weigh out the options of whether you should nap or not.
During those times, the best recommendation we can make is to do a gentle stretch, go for a quick refreshing walk with a mug of green tea. Or…just nap
That’s why there are many users that choose to save it for nighttime, as it will leave them feeling a bit too chill.
Blaze and Daze is Peaceful and Feels Infinite
This leads us to another point of why some prefer to Blaze and Daze during the evenings because during the day there may be a lot of responsibilities that are needed to be taken care of! But, at night there’s a good possibility to just completely turn off.
“Marijuana is an effective sleep aid because it restores a person’s natural sleep cycle, which so often falls out of sync with our schedules in today’s modern lifestyle,” says Dr. Matt Roman, a medical marijuana physician. Whether you have a sleep disorder or you’re having difficulty sleeping after a stressful day, cannabis might be a choice for you. Marijuana’s analgesic properties might provide some relief for those with chronic pain, while the anti-anxiety properties can soothe a stressed out mind and body.
While everyone’s physiology is different, it’s usually better to ingest the marijuana at least an hour before bedtime. According to Tishler, an hour before bedtime is ideal because the cannabis will work for about three to four hours, helping you to fall asleep. “That way, people don’t feel the effects right as they are going to sleep, which can cause excitability and prevent sleep.” Overall, To sleep restfully, you’ll want to practice good sleep hygiene and incorporate other behaviors that support a lifestyle that promotes good sleep.
Rest, enjoy the cannabis effects without having too much worry about outstanding matters. As life will always be moving and demanding your time.
Blaze and daze is the time where self-care is applied, a time of reflection and repositioning of my thoughts and abilities on making possibilities while I drift into sleep.
Or, if the cannabis strain gives me a spark and creativity during the night while I blaze and daze. I take my time enjoying the process of where it will take me.
It can be on a sewing journey or coding a whole site.
Overall, Blaze and Daze is Peaceful and Feels Infinite
Too Many Responsibilities During the Day
And it’s no surprise that you can get terribly lost in being high and forget the things you have to do if you started smoking earlier on.
Make sure to plan everything out the night before if you plan on waking and baking.
I myself tend to get lost at times in the pleasure of being high and no task seems to be as important to me as finding the next snack!
However, what can also help is to stick to sativa-dominant strains.
Overall, the decision to wake and bake is all preferential.
Some of the biggest factors to consider before partaking in a morning toke is to always remember
- What your day’s plan is going to look like,
- Your goal of consuming cannabis so early in the day, and what type of cannabis you have available to you.
- Because for some cannabis is used for better focus and concentration. We suggest trying an edible if you want to cut down on the amount of smoke you inhale.
