Although a year ago The U.S Navy prohibited the sailors from consuming any hemp-based products including the CBD and Cannabis-infused products.
Recently, the news floated over the sea that the officials from U.S Navy have once again issued a notification in which they have revised the ban over the usage of Cannabidiol products for marine professionals and sailors.
The ban has been expanded to a range of products including topical products like lotions, balm, shampoos, soaps etc.
U.S Navy stated that new rules are being introduced to protect the sailors from being exposed to any potential effects that might be caused due to the level of THC compound in a product and can affect the readiness of mission.
Also, if a sailor is exposed to any psychoactive compound, it may lead towards the disqualification from the continued services in the navy.
An online statement regarding CBD product ban in navy published from the official press office says: “It is impossible for consumers to determine how much THC a product actually contains in the current environment where label claims are not trustworthy.”
The Department of Defense (DoD) added: “It’s not reasonable nor practical for the DoD to test every hemp product, which may or may not cause a positive urinalysis result.”
Whereas, the state law allows the Americans to use CBD products containing THC level below 0.3%.
The official statement says that this policy is being expanded and imposed in order to ensure ZERO THC consumption from an unknowing source.
“This really is about the health of the force and ensuring the Navy remains a drug-free workplace, We have to be fit to fight and can’t take a risk in allowing our Sailors to consume or use these types of products,” said LA Parker, Drug Detection & Deterrence branch head, for the 21st Century Sailor office.
Does U.S Navy Banned It For Every Sailor?
No, obviously not!
The navy policy continues to allow any sailor or marine professional to used Cannabinoid products based on the allowed formulations of FDA if and only if a service member has an official prescription from an authorized physician.
In such circumstances, a sailor may use hemp and CBD products keeping it official in his or her medical record.
Minding it that if a sailor tests positive for THC or any other psychoactive compound without having a valid prescription then he or she will be immediately processed for administrative separation and could receive a discharge from the U.S Navy.
And all the sailors are supposed to keep themselves diligent from being exposed to a THC or any other prohibited substances intentionally or accidentally.
